Innkeepers, Lori and Wayne

Lori Myers and Wayne Phaneuf began their Bed & Breakfast careers in 1992 when they bought an abandoned former inn and restaurant; Heritage Hill, in Holland Massachusetts, just east of Brimfield. Within two years of acquiring the 200 year old home, they had refurbished every room and opened River’s Edge B&B.  After seven years in the business, they closed when the arrival of twins made it impossible to juggle newborns and the maintenance of an older home.
Fast forward 15 years later and Lori and Wayne began a search for a new Bed & Breakfast property which they found on the Brimfield town common - the perfect setting to satisfy their love of antiques, innkeeping, and colonial architecture.

The 200 year old historic home now has a new barn housing a constant flow of antiques and collectibles.

After a successful career in the corporate world of sales & marketing for computer software and hardware companies, Lori founded the original Brimfield.com and Sturbridge.com websites and began a full time career selling antiques both online and on the River’s Edge property in Holland. Today Lori also offers estate sale assistance and liquidation of personal property.

Wayne has been a journalist for more than 50 years and has written or contributed to over 15 books on local history.  He shares Lori’s love of antiques and spends much of his “free time” tending to the B&B’s flower and vegetable gardens.

We look forward to meeting new friends and hosting previous guests at The Elias Carter House at 8 North Main Street in Brimfield.

About Us

Our sunroom (or conservatory) offers a full view of the Brimfield Common. Comfortable chairs and sofas offer seating to visit with fellow guests, enjoy a cold or hot drink, show off your antique purchases, watch TV, or simply relax in comfortable surroundings.

Our adjacent dining room offers complimentary water or coffee as well as the use of a small refrigerator and microwave. A full home cooked breakfast is served daily with organic ingredients from our large vegetable and herb gardens as well as local suppliers. Dietary restrictions or personal preferences can be accommodated with prior notice. During Brimfield Antique Show weeks, our guests often prefer a dawn departure and will assemble a to-go bag with snacks and homemade goods.

In season, enjoy the outdoors on our brick patio which seats 10-12 guests. Dine outside and enjoy a cocktail.

For the health and comfort of our guests, the Elias Carter House has a no-smoking policy.
